The best part of the video may be when Jackson addresses the comments she’s heard about her daughter and sets the record straight about statements like you “wanted a girl so you turned your child into one” and “kids have no idea what they want or who they are — my kids wants to be a dog, should I let him?”

So watch the full video to see her answers to those difficult questions here.

Chills down my whole body. This is how parents should react.

If Leelah Alcorn’s mother made you lose faith, then watch this video. I literally cried tears of happiness for the daughter of this wonderful woman.

"I question a world that has capacity to talk about 12 French victims @ but not the 2k nigerians killed by Boko Haram this week”

2,000 Nigerians were killed by Boko Haram this week

charlie hebdo depicted the kidnapped girls of boko haram as pregnant “welfare queens” people would rather grieve for racists than black lives

not just 2k nigerians but their ENTIRE TOWN was razed there is literally no town left

And thousands have had to flee into Lake Chad where they are waiting for rescue on sand bars and getting attacked by wild animals (x)

The only victims of Islamic fundamentalist violence (which is spurred and caused by Western imperialism) that matter to the mainstream media are Westerners and non-Muslims, unless the narrative can be twisted to advance some white-washed imperialist agenda like they have attempted to do with Malala Yousufzai and #BringBackOurGirls. All of this is despite the fact that the vast majority of the victims of this Western-spured violence are Muslims. Even in the news about Charlie Hebdo you hear people memorializing the racist editors and barely talking about Ahmed Merabet, the Muslim security officer who was also killed in the attack. Americans only cared about ISIS (which they helped create) not after they butchered and massacred thousands of in Iraq and Syria, but after white journalists were executed too. And how much more are we hearing about the attack in Paris than the Taliban’s attack in Pakistan last month which killed more than 100 people

The ruins of over 20 destroyed towns and villages in Borno state Nigeria are still smoldering as we speak and bodies continue to litter the streets. Thousands have been displaced in this attack and are still awaiting rescure, and over 300,000 have been displaced to date by Boko Haram. Their lives matter too, not just those of white French people.

so many awkward moments on tumblr though

  • when you accidentally follow/unfollow someone
  • hitting publish instead of answer privately
  • following someone and then regretting it
  • when you consider someone your close tumblr friend but they don’t
  • fangirling over someone following you and then they unfollow a few days later

Vienna, Austria-based artist Bogi Fabian uses glow-in-the-dark and black light-reactive paints to transform rooms into otherworldly getaways in distant galaxies, jungles, caves or underwater. While some of Fabian’s murals are partially visible when the lights are on, the walls and floors of some of her painted rooms appear completely blank until the lights go out. In the dark the walls and floors come alive with dreamy glowing colors.

"I am trying to create dreamful atmospheres, paint walls and floors and manage to enlighten my art with and without a source of energy.

Thus, the spectator can experience the result in the daylight as well as in the dark, and in that way enjoy it in all its facets. My goal is to create unique spaces and rooms giving them an identity and a soul, where relaxing and living become an experience.”

In addition to her dazzling glow-in-the-dark murals, Fabian also works with bodypainting and glowing ceramics. To check out more of her dreamy artwork visit Bogi Fabian’s website and Facebook page.

i knew there was a reason i liked maisie.

This is rad, but do you know what’s not? That people are using this to put women against each other. They’re acting as if Maise was attacking or going at Emma, when that’s not at all the case. They’re acting as if she “slammed” her, when Maise was actually much more tactful and mild in her comments than that. It’s amazing and insightful of Maise to point out that Emma’s feminism was a very basic, simplified, and first-world approach. Maise points out that while the issues and stigma that women face in the US and the UK need addressing and repair, feminism ought to be more wide-reaching, especially for women in circumstances- countries, classes, etc- that are far less privileged than woman who easily identify with Emma and Maise in terms of gender identity, ethnicity, class, and so on.

Emma Watson has used her fame in a positive way: she’s acknowledged her platform as a public figure and is using it to talk about something extremely, extremely important. Like Maise and many of us have pointed out, however, her presentation on what feminism is and what it should concern itself with was too watered down to be a potent and life-changing as we need it to be.

But please, please, please refrain from falling into the trap of the media. Go google this and you’ll immediately see articles that are pitting them against one another. And that’s of no shock, the media loves to see women tearing each other down. Don’t let that be the story you’re accepting or perpetuating. Maise was respectful, let’s do the same. I’m sick of allowing the press to tear women down. Let’s emphasize that whats happening her is healthy criticism meant to build one another- and all those affected by gender inequality, bias, and bigotry- up.
